Saint Joseph’s P. Trip to Carfin:

Our parish Saint Vincent de Paul Society are running a free trip to Carfin on Saturday 30th September departing from St. Joseph’s at 11.00am and returning around 4.30pm. Please put your name on list in porch if intending to go.


Margaret Sinclair Pilgrimage:

Annual Pilgrimage to pray for her Beatification. This will take place at

St. Patrick’s, Cowgate, Edinburgh on Sunday 17th September from 2-6pm.

There will be Mass at 4.30pm. Preacher: Fr. Richard Reid CSsR.


Special Collection Aged & Infirm Clergy:

There will be a special collection for the aged & infirm clergy on Sunday 17th September. For those who gift aid there are pink envelopes available in the porch today. Please take one on leaving Mass and return next Sunday.

September 13th  St. John Chrysostom Bishop & Doctor of the Church 347-407

Archbishop of Constantinople. Patron Saint of Preachers.


September 14th. Exaltation of the Holy Cross. This feast originally commemorated the dedication of Constantine’s Basilica of the Holy Sepulchre in Jerusalem. The remains of the Cross where venerated there.


September 15th Our Lady of Sorrows Mary. Standing by the Cross, ‘suffered intensely with her only begotten Son and united herself to His sacrifice.’


September 16th St. Ninian Bishop, born in Cumbria around 360, ordained bishop in Rome in 394 and landed in Whithorn around 397 and built a church called ‘Candida Casa’ the centre from which he and his disciples preached the Gospel in Scotland. He died in 432 and was buried in Whithorn.


Clergy Moves: As announced last week I will be departing for my new parish(es) on October 14th taking up my role as parish priest of St. Marie’s with St. Pius’, Kirkcaldy and St. Ninian’s, Cardenden. Fr. Edward is moving to St. Mary’s, Hawick and Fr. James Tracey will be coming here to Burntisland. Please pray for all the priests who are preparing to move in the next few weeks.
