Saints of the Week:

September 8th  Feast of the Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary:

When Mary is born the long line of heroes, villains, kings and priests who constitute Jesus’ lineage through Joseph must step aside, as it will be ‘of her’ that the one called the Messiah, ‘God-with-us’ will be born. Yet she enters the story (as we hear it today) silently, almost unobserved among the thong. But her faith, her openness to God will bring His promise to fulfilment.

September 9th St. Peter Claver:

A priest, (1580-1654) who was born in Catalonia, Spain and entered the Society of Jesus. He was sent to Colombia and spent his life working among the slaves brought there to be sold. He cared for them and baptised more than 300,000 during his thirty-three years of tireless ministry.

Last Week’s Special Collection:

Sincere thanks to all who contributed the princely sum of £545.00 to the African Missions and Holy Places last Sunday. This was a valiant effort and will b greatly appreciated by all those who benefit from it.  Thank you.

May God bless you and your loved ones.                                      Fr. Brian
